Careers Business Development Coordinator

Hispanic Communications Network, the largest producer and syndicator of social impact media serving Latinos in the US (hcnmedia.com and laredhispana.org), seeks dynamic support for the Business Development team. The core responsibility of the position is to support revenue generation by providing ongoing research, administrative support, contacting potential clients and maintaining and updating team tools and templates. The Coordinator’s ultimate goal is to keep the team’s operation running smoothly by providing essential research and materials and updating functions that highlight HCN’s expertise in the development and execution of social impact campaigns; and/or, sponsorships of HCN’s national multimedia programming focused on social justice, health, environment/climate, financial literacy, housing, immigration and civic engagement designed to improve quality of life for US Latinos.

Compensation: Salary & Benefits based on experience 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support Business Development team in securing new contracts or grants to meet HCN’s annual multi-million dollar revenue target.
  • Conduct ongoing research to identify, vet and qualify funding opportunities with federal, state and local governments, nonprofits, CSR, PR firms and ad agencies interested in developing Hispanic/Latinx-serving public awareness and education campaigns. 
  • Work with team leadership to develop and maintain team tools and templates.
  • Support the team in qualifying, initiating and maintaining relationships with prospective clients and partners leading to new business.
  • Prepare team materials for client meetings as needed. 
  • Support proposal process as needed.
  • Help to fill the sales pipeline with new contracts and grants proposals.
  • Keep the company database updated and run weekly and ad hoc reports, as requested.
  • Work with the team and consultant(s) to design and manage high-impact marketing materials targeting potential clients, including pitch deck, 1-pagers, corporate website, social media, etc.
  • Pitch company services and unique value proposition via cold calls/email/in-person.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential business opportunities.                                                                            
  • Meet personal and team quarterly and annual financial targets.

Daily/Weekly Tasks to include:

  • Daily reports on new funding opportunities, solicitations and RFPs.
  • Use online research strategies and federal procurement tools, such as grants.gov, FedBizOps, and other grant and contracting industry trade platforms to capture and track upcoming opportunities.
  • Pitch company services and unique value proposition via cold calls/email/in-person.
  • Attend networking opportunities, as needed, ranging from local DC events to key conferences.
  • Tee-up initial meetings as instructed, and/or in coordination with the rest of the BD team.
  • Track down hard-to-find contact information for key decision-makers and build strategic contact lists as needed.
  • Help develop and draft proposals and grants that present HCN’s value proposition to help potential funders better serve U.S. Hispanic populations.


  • Minimum Requirements – Skills/Knowledge/Traits:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to design and maintain effective marketing materials.
  • Knowledge and experience fundraising is a plus. 
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in US Hispanic/Latinx communities and related social justice issues. Spanish-language skills are a plus.
  • Command of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Google Business (Docs, Spreadsheets).
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM database.
  • Self-driven while also able to work with team members spread across the country.
  • Well-organized and solid time manager; ability to meet fast deadlines.
  • Resourceful with creative solutions.
