The 2020 elections may be the most important in our lifetimes.
For the first time in history, Latinx will be the largest “non-white” demographic- representing over 13% of the electorate. Latinx have the power to decide- but the majority of eligible Hispanics still have not registered or voted.
HCN introduces Mano a Mano (Hand to Hand), a weekly political debate series for TV, Radio and Social Media featuring two prominent advocates with different perspectives and one common cause: Informing the Latinx community and empowering them to make their own decisions.
– Representing the left is former Congressman and outspoken progressive Luis Gutiérrez.
– Representing the right is President of the Libre Initiative, Daniel Garza.
As they lock heads around the hottest topics of the week, they give viewers concrete reasons to WANT to vote and ultimately make history.
The Spanish-language debate is moderated by José López Zamorano a renowned journalist with 30 years of experience reporting on US Latinx issues. The English-language debate targeting younger audiences is moderated by journalist Andrea Marquez, a border child and a Millennial, representing a large part of the population who will be voting for the first time.
The show takes it one step further by making it easy for audiences of all ages to register to vote and/or verify their details to facilitate mail-in voting by texting VOTAMOS or LATINEQUIS to 52886.
